Facebook Fail

This is a notice to advise of the recent change by Facebook to their APIs which has broken any application that has used the social viewer to ingest facebook feeds. Please note that there is an updated template available on the Source Code tab which fixes this issue and we're working to publish a new official release as soon as possible.

If you have an existing application using the social viewer template you will need to fix the issue by using the CustomFacebookSourceUrl class that should already be in the template.

- Change (and replace {facebookappid} and {facebookappsecret} with values for your application from developer.facebook.com
return string.Format("https://graph.facebook.com/{0}/posts", source.Id);
To
return string.Format("https://graph.facebook.com/{0}/posts?access_token={facebookappid}|{facebookappsecret}", source.Id);

- In ReaderRunTimeRepository add the following line to the LoadSourceUrlsAndParsers method

SourceUrls["Facebook"] = new CustomFacebookSourceUrl();

 Post comments here if this still doesn't work for you.

Hi,

Is the facebook integration still broken? I have the latest source and configured the various keys, but once I get prompted for credentials, I get a facebook page showing 'App Login' and just a Cancel and Login button, that both appear to do nothing.

Is this an issue with the template, or me not setting up the facebook side correctly?

Interested to hear if anyone else has the Facebook integration working?

Alex.

PS. Many thanks for your hard work, love the template.

Hi Alexander,
I think you may want to contact the dev Nick Randolph on your question....I didnt develop this template. But to answer your question, the sign-in works sometimes and sometimes doesnt....glitch. Here is the link to Nick:
