works and modifications

May 26, 2012 at 6:29 AM

As a "wanna be" developer and Social Viewer Template fan... I want to see other people's work's/modifications.

If you have a live app, please post the link so we all can look at other approaches, to the same idea.

And as  I'm about to release mine as a beta and would love limited input. If you want to test my approach, please IM me your email address.

But regardless... Thank you Nick Randolph!!! You are a great teacher!!!

Here are a couple examples of apps I have done with a modded-out Social Viewer Template:

Social Viewer v 1:

Much thanks to Nick for providing an awesome extendable template for WP7 app development!

Toolbox,

Looks nice. Do you know how I can limit how far back I pull feeds? For example, I only want to pull the last 7days.

For anyone interested we’re also working on another template, this time for working with the background audio agent for both streaming and non-streaming content. Check out http://wpstreaming.codeplex.com

Kevin

It depends on which feeds – some, like RSS only pull a fixed number of items (ie what’s in the RSS feed at the time it’s retrieved). Others are progressively pulled when the user scrolls down in the list. You can intercept this code if you look at the code for the relevant page. Hope this helps

I have two Reader apps in the marketplace were I've used the SocialViewer as a template.

Bucs Fan Reader - Tampa Bay Buccaneers Football team news:

Rays Fan Reader - Tampa Bay Rays Baseball team news:

I would like to modify the app in way that allows me to add a starting panorama panel when the app is launched, instead of jumping right into the feeds. I want to do this because I'm looking to add a way to view the football and baseball schedule and maybe a latest score tile that flips around.

Can any one advise on how I would go about adding a blank panel? When I try to add a blank panel to the Main XAML page I get invalid definition errors.
